About Victoria
Victoria Wren is a counsellor registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). She has 23 years of experience and works with stress, anxiety, trauma and abuse, grief, self-esteem and related concerns including social anxiety and phobia.
She listens first and asks questions to understand what matters to the client. Sessions focus on what the person wants to change or do differently. The client stays in charge of what is shared and the pace of work.
Victoria trained at level 4 with an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling and holds an MSc in Practical Skills Therapeutic Education. She also has a PGCE in Secondary Education and a BSc in Environmental Science, and is currently working on doctoral research with the University of Exeter.
Her day-to-day approach uses client-centred therapy. That means conversations are guided by the client’s experience, with the counsellor reflecting understanding and helping clarify options. Practical concerns such as sleep, eating, relationships, and work are discussed alongside emotional material.
Clients who have experienced trauma, loss, addiction or long-term stress can expect steady, paced sessions that respect their choices. Victoria has background experience in education settings across age ranges and offers help with issues such as attachment, autism, parenting and midlife change.
Sessions follow a clear structure where the client’s goals and preferences shape the plan. To start, a short questionnaire and an initial session are used to match needs and agree next steps.
Client-centred work and online conversations
Client-centred therapy focuses on the person's own experience. The counsellor listens, reflects what they hear and follows the client’s lead. This helps people who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, phobia or life changes to explore what matters to them and decide on small steps forward.Victoria also draws on integrative ideas from her training to bring practical skills into sessions when useful, for example discussing sleep, eating or coping strategies alongside emotional work. These tools are used only as agreed with the client and aim to support daily functioning as well as emotional processing.
Finding the right way to work is part of the process. Victoria will help the client and counsellor agree which approaches suit current needs, goals and preferences. This is a collaborative conversation and may change over time as progress is reviewed.
Session formats are not listed in the biography, so please confirm current options before booking. Online sessions can make it easier to fit counselling around work, childcare and travel by removing the need to commute. They also allow shorter check-ins when a quick conversation is helpful and offer flexibility about whether to use video or not depending on what the client prefers.
